From dramatic comeback goals to heroic saves, the 2014 FIFA World Cup has been nothing short of exhilarating for fans across the globe, and for Beck & Score members who attended our World Cup kick off event, co-hosted by Los Angeles Lakers Steve Nash, they were treated to one more memorable moment to add to the festivities in Brazil.
On June 14, just after the first whistle blew in Brazil, members were treated to an exclusive party at the historic Largo de Boticario in beautiful Cosme Velho, Rio de Janeiro. This festive, sunshine-filled afternoon included soccer-friendlies, Brazilian-influenced fare, and inspiring personalities.
Featured among the coveted guest list were international football stars Patrick Vieira, Olivier Dacourt, and Sylvain Wiltord, along with other Brazilian pros. Also present were NBA star Leandro Barbosa and pro surfer Garrett “GMAC” McNamara, who has been leading surf sessions at destination surf spots in Buzios.
The refreshing caipirinhas circling the venue were definite crowd-pleasers, as was the Brazilian BBQ and energetic DJ. Beck & Score founders and agents were on deck to meet and greet guests, share their World Cup predictions, and get wrapped up in all the anticipation of the ensuing tournament.
Of course, what’s a Beck & Score bash without a little soccer action? Attendees were lead from the main venue to a small enclosing underneath Christ the Redeemer, the famous Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ, to participate in a 4v4 futsal tournament headed by yours truly, Steve Nash. Open to the sky yet enclosed by lush greenery, the space felt intimate and tropical, with everyone on their feet and having a great time.
